politicized counseling

Accepting new clients for September 2026

what is politicized counseling?

Every person is unique in their identities and the intersection of those identities. Traditional therapy often places the locus of the issue within a person, as though there is something inherently within them that needs to be healed.

Politicized healing offers something different. Utilizing social justice, queer/feminist theories integrated with somatic healing approaches, I offer a different experience of individual therapy. By examining your experiences systemically, understanding the intersection of your identities and how these larger systemic issues are shaping you and impacting your life, we can find ways to empower you in your everyday life in new, radically accepting ways. Having access to increased choice heals embodied trauma, and allows for the change you are seeking.

I integrate social justice theory, queer/feminist theories, motivational enhancement, mindfulness, somatic practices, fat positive/weight neutral care, harm reduction, abolitionist/anticarceral values, and affirming care (for gender, sexuality, kink, sex work, ADHD, autism, and more) to create a practice of politicized counseling and radical care for you to move toward embodied, value-aligned living in your day to day life.

Affirming, validating, and seeing
people within the complex intersections of self is a cornerstone of my practice

Looking for deeper understanding?

Life-long learning is something I deeply value, and I love to support, teach, and connect with other clinicians!

If you have a desire to learn more about substance use, eating disorders, harm reduction, ADHD/autistic-affirming care, disability, co-occurring disorders, or integrating social justice into your practice, please reach out and learn more about how I can support you in continued learning, unlearning, and clinical growth.

I offer individual consultation, packages for ongoing consultation, custom trainings for organizations on the above topics, the ethics of self-disclosure for clinicians, and consultation for organizations seeking to ensure they are compliant with 42 CFR Part 2

meet lenni

Hello!

I am Lenni (they/them) and I am so glad that you are here.

I am a white, disabled, queer, agender, (small) fat femme, AuDHD therapist and absolutely love the work I get to do.

Like many, I came to this work and my areas of specialty honestly - through my own lived and living experiences. I also recognize that even if we have shared identities, your experience is uniquely yours and what has worked for and supported me in my healing journey may not be what you need. While areas of shared experience and identity can be connecting and helpful, I am very intentional to not be prescriptive and to intentionally work to understand you and your unique experience and needs.

When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my partner and our 3 cats, riding my bike, learning, and reading.

How can I help you grow?
